Cafe Rosso was designed to reflect the high quality food it serves and to work seamlessly with its environment on the San Francisco State University campus. To emphasize the food quality, we created an exhibition kitchen and topped it with a high, curved copper roof. The customer area was designed to lessen the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces, with roll up doors that disappear during business hours.
The cafe's foundation and structural system were designed to allow the entire structure to be moved, should the University need to expand the neighboring building in the future.
